Privacy Policy for Only The Truth Bible App

Introduction

Only The Truth ("we," "our," or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

Information We Collect

1. Account Information

  • Email address (required to create an account and sign in)
  • Full name (for your profile)
  • Password (stored only as an encrypted hash — we never see it in plain text)

2. Profile Information

  • Username (chosen by you)
  • Profile picture (optional — you upload it)
  • Bio or short description (optional)

3. Bible Study & Activity Data

  • Your last reading position (book, chapter, and verse) so you can resume where you left off
  • Reading streak data (consecutive days of reading)
  • Verses you highlight (with the highlight color you choose)
  • Bookmarks you save and any personal notes you attach to verses
  • Saved text lessons you create (title, content, scripture references, and notes)

4. Community & Social Content

  • Fellowship posts, images, and scripture references you share
  • Questions and replies you post to the Q&A forum
  • Reactions and comments you leave on community posts
  • Direct messages you send to other members

5. Device & Preferences

  • Your theme and reading-text-size preferences, stored locally on your device
  • Limited, in-memory detection of your device/browser type is used only to adapt the app's layout for a native app or web view — no geolocation or location data is collected

How We Use Your Information

We use the data we collect to:

  • Authenticate your account and keep your data secure
  • Save your place in the Bible and your reading streak
  • Store your highlights, bookmarks, notes, and saved lessons
  • Enable community features (Fellowship, Q&A forum, and direct messages)
  • Show you notifications about lessons, events, or updates
  • Operate and maintain the App

We do not use your personal data for advertising.

AI-Powered Features

The App offers two optional AI features, both powered by Base44's built-in AI services:

  • Smart Search: When you turn on Smart Search and submit a question, your search query text is sent to Base44's language model (InvokeLLM) to generate a short summary and scripture references. Internet/web search is not enabled for this feature. Our App does not retain your query or use it to build a profile of you; how Base44 processes the query is governed by Base44's own terms and privacy policy.
  • Text-to-Speech (Audio Narration): When you play audio for a chapter, the verse text of that chapter is sent to Base44's text-to-speech service (GenerateSpeech) to produce narration audio. Our App uses the returned audio for your session and does not store the text as personal data; how Base44 processes the text is governed by Base44's own terms and privacy policy.

Data Storage & Security

  • Your data is stored securely on Base44's managed backend
  • We use industry-standard encryption, and all data transmission uses HTTPS
  • Your password is never visible to us — only encrypted hashes are stored
  • Your bookmarks, highlights, notes, and saved lessons are private to you

What We Do NOT Do

  • We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information
  • We do NOT use your personal information for advertising or marketing
  • We do NOT collect your precise or approximate location
  • We do NOT use Smart Search to build a profile of your beliefs or reading habits
  • We do not sell or share your reading position, bookmarks, highlights, notes, or saved lessons for advertising or marketing purposes. Base44 processes and stores this information as a service provider used to operate the App.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

  • Base44 — backend database, authentication, file storage, AI-powered Smart Search, and text-to-speech services.
  • Google — optional Google Sign-In and Google Fonts.
  • Mux — video hosting and streaming for lesson videos.
  • Apple App Store — iOS distribution, where applicable.
  • Google Play Store — Android distribution.

These providers may process information in connection with the services they provide to the App. Their handling of information is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data you have stored in the App
  • Correct inaccurate profile information
  • Delete your account and your associated personal data (see "Account Deletion" below)
  • Opt out of optional features such as Smart Search, audio narration, and notifications

Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time, either:

  • Inside the App — from Settings, or from the public Delete Account page at https://thetruthbible.com/delete-account, or
  • By email — by contacting truthbibleapp@gmail.com from the address associated with your account.

When your account is deleted, we permanently remove the personal data associated with you, including:

  • Your profile, username, profile picture reference, and reading streak data
  • Your bookmarks, highlights, and personal notes
  • Your saved text lessons and their notes
  • Fellowship posts and Q&A questions you authored
  • Your reactions, comments, and replies on other users' content
  • Your direct messages (sent and received)
  • Your notification read-state

What is retained:

  • Shared, admin-published content — lessons, events, announcements, photos, albums, and music may remain available to the community after your account is deleted because it is shared app content. Where any shared content contains an identifying reference to you, the App removes or anonymizes that reference where applicable (for example, your comments, reactions, and replies on other users' content are removed).

Uploaded Media Files and Account Deletion

When your account is deleted, the App removes the database records and references associated with uploaded personal media, such as your profile picture and Fellowship post images.

Base44 currently does not expose a direct file-deletion capability to the App for all uploaded files. If an underlying uploaded file remains in Base44 storage after your account is deleted, you may contact us at truthbibleapp@gmail.com to request removal. We will take reasonable steps to request removal through Base44 where that capability is available.

We will not intentionally continue using an uploaded personal file after the associated account and database references have been deleted.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under 13 without appropriate parental or guardian involvement where required by law.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 in violation of applicable law. If we learn that personal information from a child was collected improperly, we will take appropriate steps to delete that information.

Data Retention

  • Your personal data is retained for as long as your account is active
  • When you delete your account, your personal data is removed as described in "Account Deletion" above
  • Shared, admin-published content is retained as part of the App for all users

Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice.
